It’s been a while, but I am currently out on a woodland walk with Fudge. It must have been nearly a month since I was last out on a decent walk. This is going to be a relatively gentle short walk of a couple of miles. Post covid I don’t seem to have the energy to do much more.
It’s nice being out in the woodland, listening and feeling the wind blowing through the trees. Seeing butterflies fluttering around. It is so peaceful and tranquil. Apart from the occasional bark from Fudge, whom seems to think I should be walking rather than being sat down.
I have just seen a deer, in a cornfield. I could hear a rustling in the cornfield and at first I thought it was Fudge, possibly getting up to mischief. But it wasn’t Fudge, it was a deer. This area is well known for its population of deer and earlier this year I saw a herd of 60 to 70 deer in the same field. They are a lovely to see.
As we continued our walk through the woods, a deer crossed our path, stopped and looked us and then just carried on into the woods. Of course Fudge decides to give chase, fortunately the deer had disappeared and Fudge did decide to come back very quickly on the whistle.
All in all it was a nice leisurely 2.5 mile walk, on a nice afternoon in the woodland.
